Belly Acres is a magical twelve-acre property, just minutes from the ocean. The vibrant community began over 20 years ago when a collective of street performers made the property their home off the road. It has been the long time host to the world renowned International Juggling Festival. Their land is a patchwork of native ohia and lama trees, grass lawns, gardens and fruit orchards containing over two hundred trees including coconuts, mangos, avocados, papaya, bananas and citrus. Nearby, along pristine coastal roads are warms ponds, tidal pools and a volcanically formed fresh water lake that are best visited on one of the available cruiser bicycles.

2007 saw the construction of a community building, the SPACE. It is a beautiful facility with vaulting 25-foot ceilings designed to accommodate aerial arts. We are thrilled to partner with Hiccup Circus and Belly Acres to offer the 2nd annual Hawaii Circus Retreat.

The Jungalows

Accommodations are in onsite dwellings known as Jungalows. Each one is privately located and completely unique. They can best be described as screened-in tropical cabins, some are nestled down orchid lined paths and others sit high overlooking the old lava flows. Each is one of a kind and has its own charm. Prepare to have the best sleep of your life!

The S.P.A.C.E.

The S.P.A.C.E. is a beautiful open-air facility with vaulting 25 ft ceilings designed to accommodate aerial arts. It has been home to much local community programming since its construction in Nov. 2007 including an annual Hawaiian Vaudeville Festival, and international-calibre shows including "Aida" and "Le Chic", a circus cabaret directed by Doloreze Leonard, a co-founder of Cirque du Soleil and performer in their first American tour. Rebecca performed in the show last year - look for the Hawaii Circus Retreat instructors in the show again this year!

The Food

We are offering a delicious menu based on the "local food" sustainability model, using organic ingredients as much as possible. The meals will be geared towards healthy, whole foods to support your health and fitness. The menu will include tasters of regional and traditional Hawaiian recipes and vegan and vegetarian options will be available. Please let us know if you require vegan or vegetarian meals. Meals will be prepared by our onsite chef, Jhana Seidler of Calgary, Canada. She brings a background in nutrition along with her faboulous cooking skills to create delicious as well as healthy meals.

The Beach

The beautiful Kehena beach is just a 10 minute walk from the site. This breathtaking black-sand beach is often frequented by wild dolphins, whales, and seaturtles. Clothing optional! Every sunday a local drumming circle gathers on the beach to jam. Newcomers welcome!
